What this covers

How do we discover what really concerns our audience?

How do people solve the task today, and what makes their work difficult? Interviews ask about specific situations and existing solutions. Agreement with a presented idea reveals little about this.

The package includes five moderated remote interviews of no more than 45 minutes each, covering one research question and one agreed audience. The guide is agreed. Statements are then analysed thematically and separated from our interpretation and open questions.

Ask about specific experiences and decisions

UX research investigates use and user needs. Interviews focus on conversations about situations, decisions and existing solutions. To observe whether someone can complete a specific task in your product, a usability test is the more suitable method.

Five conversations provide limited qualitative insight. They are not a representative vote across the entire audience. The report summarises statements anonymously and identifies topics for further investigation. Recruitment and participant incentives are excluded from the package price; suitable participants and handling of their data must be agreed before starting.

Does this sound familiar?

Your team discusses assumptions about the audience

The team has different hypotheses about why customers choose a product. Interviews ask about specific experiences and decisions that can help investigate those hypotheses.

A need is still described too vaguely

Customers want ‘a better overview’. What they last searched for and where they struggled is unclear. Conversations explore these situations before turning them into a new feature.

A design decision lacks context

Before designing, the team lacks knowledge of when and why people use the product. We ask about existing processes, tools used and difficulties encountered.

How we approach it.

  1. Define the research question and audience

We clarify which question the interviews should answer for your next decision and shape the guide accordingly. Participants must fit the audience; recruitment and research-data handling are clarified beforehand.

  2. Moderate conversations

We conduct five remote interviews following the agreed guide. A pilot can show whether questions are understandable. We ask about experiences rather than seeking validation of your product idea.

  3. Analyse themes transparently

The report separates statements, interpretation and open questions. Recurring themes can provide useful clues without proving statistical frequencies across an entire audience. Results are prepared so your team can see what a conclusion actually rests on.

Design drafts, a yellow colour swatch and material samples on a light worktable.

After handover

Review results alongside statements and situations: which themes appear in several conversations, and which reflect one experience? This can inform a next product question or design. If interaction needs observing afterwards, a separate usability test is planned.

After your enquiry

What we clarify next.

Ask about this service ↗

Note the product question you want to clarify and the current state: idea, design or usable application. We discuss this after receiving your enquiry.

For interviews and tests, we agree participant selection and the handling of research data in advance. You do not need personal interview data or confidential project documents for the first contact.

Terms used in this service

What does that mean?

Research question
The question the study should clarify. It determines which participants fit and which experiences we ask about.
Interview guide
Prepared topics and questions for an interview. It gives the conversation direction while leaving room to explore a specific experience further.
Thematic analysis
Organising interview statements by themes and connections. The report shows supporting evidence and distinguishes it from interpretation.
Before your enquiry

Questions about the offer.

What is included, what do you need and what happens after your enquiry?

The process in detail →
Do you also find interview participants?

Recruitment, placement fees and participant incentives are excluded from the package price. Before starting, we agree how suitable people from the chosen audience will be available and which participation terms apply.

Are five interviews statistically representative?

No. The conversations provide qualitative clues and specific descriptions from the selected group. They do not allow population estimates or guarantee that every need is captured.

Can we test our website directly during interviews?

The interview package investigates a research question through conversation. Observing a specific task on a website or prototype is a usability test. If both methods are needed, their process and scope are agreed separately beforehand.

What do I receive after the conversations?

You receive thematic analysis and a report distinguishing statements, interpretation and open questions. One written follow-up round is included. Results should support decisions, not provide selected praise quotes for the website.

How are recordings handled?

Handling of recordings and research data is clarified before sessions, including required consent and agreed use. Unresolved personal or customer data must not enter the open enquiry form. The package excludes medical research and interviews with minors.

When does work begin?

Interview dates, required documents and the analysis window are agreed before commissioning.

Which access is needed?

An identified research question and suitable adult participants from the agreed audience You provide five voluntary participants and agreed appointments Consent, possible recording and deletion processes are clarified before sessions External costs are separately stated and approved before commissioning; no automatic extra purchases Credentials must not be included in the enquiry. Details are agreed only after written commissioning.

What happens after handover?

One written follow-up round is included. The service scope lists the analyses, designs or technical changes covered by the package. We agree additional work with you before it begins.
