+8 %more sales at Vodafone
A/B test

Vodafone · published 2021

Vodafone compared two landing pages with the same appearance and functionality. The faster page displayed its largest content 31% sooner and achieved 8% more sales.

The test used a landing page with paid traffic. Development costs and net profit are not reported.

around 35%estimated potential for the order rate
Potential estimate

Baymard Institute · Checkout research

Baymard estimates around 35% potential for a higher order rate in large shops through better checkout design. The estimate is based on user tests and examined purchase flows.

A potential estimate, not a measured average redesign outcome. The figure cannot be applied to other shops across the board.

For teams with data and too many open questions

The figures are there.
What do you do with them?

Matomo counts differently from your shop. The same questions return in the next meeting. The analytics data check investigates what the available figures can actually tell you.

Size guidance beside the selector

This is what the change could look like. A specific test task then checks whether people find the guidance.

What you can do with a finding

A finding becomes a task.

'The product page is confusing' gives developers little to work with. A useful finding identifies the exact location and describes what should change.

In this sample, selection and size chart are far apart. Someone searches, loses their place and has to return. After the change, the test task is: use your measurements to choose a suitable size. Do they now find the guidance without a hint?

Your team can verify this journey itself. Whether the order rate changes also requires a comparison of actual purchases afterwards.

Case report

Saramin · published 2020

The jobs platform reports 15% more organic visits after a year spent fixing issues affecting Google's crawling and indexing of its pages.

GEO study · KDD 2024

The GEO study measures the presence of sources in AI answers. Revised content, for example with citations and supported statements, achieved up to 40% more visibility in the research setup.

Visibility was measured, not clicks or revenue. The 2024 results do not predict performance in today's AI search systems.

  1. Choose a service

Read the scope and add the suitable service to your selection. Sending an enquiry is free.

  2. Send enquiry

Enter your contact details and review your selection. We then clarify your plans and the documents needed in writing.

  3. Review quotation

You receive the scope, price and timing in writing. Work begins only with your agreement.

  4. Move the project forward

We analyse, design or develop the agreed scope. You receive the result with a clear handover and room for follow-up questions.

Monthly effect in the example

What remains after additional costs?

After goods, shipping and other variable costs, the contribution margin remains. The ongoing additional costs of your improvement are then deducted.

Fictional calculation example

From 2% to 2.2% order rate.

10,000 monthly visits and 20 additional orders: the assumptions are €80 net order value and a 40% contribution margin. Monthly calculation once the effect starts:

Additional revenue
€1,600
Of which contribution margin
€640
After €100 additional costs
€540
Including investment and delay

What about after one year?

Fictional assumptions: €1,000 for analysis, €1,500 for implementation and one full month without an effect. The assumed improvement stays constant from month two. Additional costs of €100 accrue every month from project start. No other savings.

Project balance before income taxes after 12 months with a +10% relative change €3,340

11 × €640 − 12 × €100 − €2,500

At +6% relative change
€524 Balance after twelve months
At +8% relative change
€1,932 Balance after twelve months
Calculate your project

Which calculation fits?

Orders and margin matter for a shop. Enquiries also need a conversion-to-sale rate. Saved working time first creates capacity; only eliminated expenditure saves cash. The calculator guides you through your scenario.

AI & automation

Where does your team copy data every day?

From inbox to CRM, from a spreadsheet to the next system: a specific workflow lets us investigate which manual work can disappear and where approval is still needed.

Automate repetitive tasks
Before discussing the project

One specific question is enough to start.

You do not need a finished brief yet. A situation you want to change is helpful: 'Customers keep asking which size fits' or 'Every order is entered manually twice'.

Define your project in the planner

What do you notice day to day?

Note one or two examples: a recurring question, an error message or a cumbersome step. For a new function, describe who will use it and which task it should complete.

What is already available?

Show us the affected page or your design. If figures conflict, name the report and period. To review text and usability, an accessible page is enough to start.

Who can implement changes?

If someone already works on your website, the report should be useful to them. Tell us about existing requirements or planned changes. If we handle implementation, you receive a separate quotation.

Questions about working together.

Unsure which service fits your project? Briefly describe what you have in mind.

Ask your question
Which experts do I need for my project?

SAND & MEHR offers services for UX, design, development, 3D, analytics and AI automation. The service finder narrows down your needs with three questions. Or describe your project through ‘Ask an expert’ — we will help place it in context.

Do you also handle implementation?

Yes. You can enquire about individual improvements, new interfaces, backend functions or complete applications. A check is not required if the task is already clear. For analysis packages, subsequent implementation is a separate order.

How quickly can you deliver?

We work quickly with clearly defined tasks and short feedback cycles. Delivery time depends on the product, required documents and handover. We agree your specific date before commissioning. You can tell us your preferred date when clarifying the project.

Does an enquiry already place an order?

No. We first check whether your project fits the described scope. You then receive a written quotation. Work begins only when you accept it.
