02 / A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

The size selector cannot be reached with Tab

A keyboard leads through yellow-highlighted selectors to an operable product action.
Fictional sample project
The context
In a fictional store, sizes are displayed as clickable areas. Someone navigating with Tab moves straight from the product name to the add-to-cart button.
The finding
The size selector cannot be reached by keyboard. In the tested journey, this prevents the user from choosing a variant independently.
Next step
We implement the agreed selector as an operable control with a visible focus state. We then retest selection and feedback with a keyboard and the agreed screen reader.

Other situations we check

Selection only works with a mouse

A visible variant selector responds to clicks but not to keyboard input. We follow the main task and check which controls are reachable and understandable.

Errors cannot be associated with the right field

After submission, a message appears but focus remains in the wrong place. We check field association, feedback and the path to correcting the input.

03 / HOW WE WORK

The path to your deliverable.

  1. Agree the main task and test scope

We choose one journey with up to three page types and one screen reader/browser combination.

  2. Test operation and correct faults

We check keyboard use, focus, zoom and selected screen-reader feedback.

  3. Use the changed areas again

We repeat the affected steps with the agreed assistive tools.

Before your enquiry

Questions about the offer.

What is included, what do you need and what happens after your enquiry?

The process in detail
Will this prove that the whole website is accessible?

No. The package addresses one bounded journey and the agreed fault types. It does not replace a complete conformance assessment or legal review. Open issues remain visible in the record.

Can you change my store's checkout too?

That depends on the store platform and the editing access available. Before commissioning, we establish which areas are editable. Locked platform and payment interfaces are not sold as included implementation work.

Do I also need a usability test?

Manual technical testing is included. A usability test with actual participants answers additional questions about use and is a separate service. We take previous reviews into account when agreeing the scope.

Is an automated scan enough for this review?

A scan can find some issues but cannot assess the whole interaction. Manual keyboard, zoom and screen-reader checks are therefore part of the agreed scope. Automated findings support that work.

Is the work guided by WCAG?

We relate the agreed findings to relevant WCAG 2.2 level A and AA criteria where they concern the tested journey. This limited review is not complete evidence of conformance for every page and state.

When does work begin?

We agree the delivery date after reviewing the affected environment, before you commission the work.

Which access is needed?

An accessible journey and its main task, such as selecting a variant and reaching the cart After commissioning, access to editable code and a suitable test environment Known platform limits and existing findings, if a previous review is available Credentials must not be included in the enquiry. Details are agreed only after written commissioning.

What happens after handover?

One written follow-up round is included. The service scope lists the analyses, designs or technical changes covered by the package. We agree additional work with you before it begins.
